The Folklore Library & Archive is a volunteer-run project which aims to provide a globally significant resource for the future. It receives no funding from any authority and so relies on the generosity of those who are interested in its work to survive and flourish. In the current stages of development we are setting small individual fundraising goals to help us to build on the voluntary work which is already being done by providing extra equipment and resources needed to prepare the archive for research access. Further down the line, we will look at larger goals once the initial work is done.
You can make a one-off donation to the Library and Archive which will be allocated towards our current fundraising aims, which you can see below. Any contribution, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated.
You can sign up to make a monthly donation to us, for any amount you choose. Please email us HERE to discuss the donation you would like to make. Your donation will be allocated towards the current fundraising aim each month.
You can choose to fund a particular goal. If you would like to fund one of our fundraising aims outright, then please email us HERE and tell us which one you have chosen. We will discuss the best way for you to do this and how we can celebrate your generosity (if you wish to do so)
We have a number of sponsorship opportunities which will enable you to support a whole archive or other project. These allow your name or company details to be attached to a project which goes that bit further to further our aims. Please email us HERE if you think you would like to be a part of this discussion.
The current fundraising goal of the The Folklore Library and Archive is to raise approximately £150 to enable our team to purchase a digital slide scanner.
This will enable us to preserve - and make available - hundreds of photographic slides which are currently in our possession, but unable to be viewed. Through generous support, we are already half way to our goal, and once it is reached we look forward to being able to digitise and share these important photographic records.

Once our initial fundraising goal is reached, there are many further projects we will be embarking on in an effort to preserve and share the resources that we collect.
Future fundraising goals will include:
- Cloud storage for digital archive material
- Offsite storage for physical archive material
- Continued support for administrative costs (software, website hosting, archive materials, etc)
We are also planning to host various online fundraising events over the coming months, which will allow us to connect with other folklore enthusiasts and help to build our worldwide community. In addition to events, we will soon be offering a fun range of L&A-exclusive products which can be purchased to support the project (or will be offered as tiered rewards for donation), with 100% of the proceeds going towards the L&A's conservation efforts.
Stay tuned for more information on these exciting plans!
