TRADITIONAL KNIT AND STITCH
We are running a project to collect and archive traditional stitch samplers from around the world, both historic and modern, along with any supplementary information about particular uses, family or location connections and similar information. This is an ongoing project which will later expand to include other traditional knitting and crochet items.
In the image you can see some of the samplers already created for us based on Cornish Guernsey patterns. This is the kind of physical collection which we are looking to build up. We are interested in hearing from volunteers who would like to offer help with this project by researching stitch patterns and their history, or by knitting samplers based on that research. You can, of course, do both parts!
Volunteers can be anywhere in the world, as we would like this archive to grow to represent all cultures and historical periods over time. Please contact us using the form at the bottom of this page if you would like to offer volunteer assistance with the Traditional Knit and Stitch project. |
