Chulmleigh Old Fair 2019
The Old Fair has taken place every year in the small Devon town of Chulmleigh since King Henry III granted its Royal Charter in 1253. This has been maintained even through the World Wars and Covid pandemic. A white glove is paraded through the town, representing the King's gauntlet and following the opening ceremony a money scramble takes place for the children. At one time, the coins used to be heated until they were red hot.
